20 Pickleball in North Naples – What’s happening Wednesday

For those that love Pickleball – an exciting change is coming to North Naples:

Twenty pickleball courts are coming to Pelican Bay Community Park.  This renovation is $6,000,000 and construction is planned to start in the Spring of 2024. In case you haven’t heard –  Pickleball is the fastest-growing sport in the country. And it’s no different in Southwest Florida as it has become one of the top sports in the area.

Currently, the Pickleball players are using the tennis courts during their game time. With this renovation, Pickleball and Tennis players will each have their own courts.
This extensive renovation will also include 2 new tennis courts, revamping 8 clayed tennis courts, concessions, and an extended parking lot to deal with the expected influx of patrons. They have agreed to serve alcohol, but only at tournaments and special events.
Not everyone was thrilled about the plans. Some people said pickleball shouldn’t come at the expense of other sports during the meeting.
Not everyone is happy about this change as they feel that it will interfere with soccer and softball that also plays at the this multi-use field.

What do you think about these new courts? Are you for? Or Against?
